DecaWave Adds Redpoint Positioning to Partnership Program to Accelerate Adoption of Micro-Location Technology

DecaWave, specializing in precise location and connectivity applications, today announced a partnership to provide its wireless UWB technology to Redpoint Positioning Corp., a Cambridge, MA, based Real-Time Location System (RTLS) company. Redpoint Positioning’s collaboration with DecaWave will help drive adoption of high-precision RTLS solutions by the broad market by leveraging the partners’ technical expertise in designing tailored real-time, accurate localization solutions for connectivity in end-user applications.

The purpose of the DecaWave Partnership Program is to create an ecosystem that builds on the members’ (hardware vendors, software developers, and systems integrators) knowledge with DecaWave accurate location technology to quickly enable customers looking for state-of-the- art and cost-effective end products.

Redpoint Positioning offers an end-to-end RTLS solution, with an easy-to-deploy wireless mesh infrastructure, as well as RTLS tags and application software for analytics and reporting. Redpoint’s solution supports a broad range of use cases, including asset tracking and management, indoor navigation, staff and visitor tracking, location-enabled sensor data, and integration with other enterprise software platforms.

Redpoint has developed and filed patents for advanced positioning methods that enable its systems to achieve unparalleled location accuracy even in highly complex environments. Redpoint’s wireless mesh-network infrastructure is self-organizing, self-healing and self-calibrating. The advanced system architecture significantly reduces deployment time, and enables scalability to thousands of simultaneous network anchors and tags.

With DecaWave’s DW1000 chip, Redpoint has developed a RTLS solution that can locate tagged objects both indoors and outdoors with accuracy using ultra-wideband wireless technology, an order of magnitude better than Wi-Fi and Bluetooth-based systems. Because the DW1000 allows both accurate measurement of time and data communications to occur simultaneously, it can be utilized for a wide variety of applications by developers of Real Time Location and Indoor Positioning Systems, location based services, Internet of Things and wireless sensor networks.

“The need for accurate micro-location is everywhere across the industry from healthcare, factory and automation as the M2M and Internet of Things industries continues to grow,” said Mickael Viot, Marketing Manager at DecaWave. “DecaWave UWB technology gives a clear advantage in these areas as well as the potential to advance consumer devices, both smartphones and IoT devices. This Partnership Program is a foundation for developing these technologies and micro-location solutions. We have been working with Redpoint Positioning for the past three years and are excited to have them bring their skills and wealth of technical and application knowledge to broaden market acceptance.”

“In close partnership with DecaWave, Redpoint can deliver unique high-precision RTLS solutions, with a performance and an affordable cost, that has not been available in industry before,” said Chunjie Duan, Chief Technology Officer, Redpoint Positioning Corp.
