Large companies have been doing this for many years. They’ve all done extensive modeling of their designs before implementing them. The problem is they’ve all developed their own libraries for architectural and hardware modeling in C or C++. Now it’s going more mainstream with the widespread adoption of System C and the standardization of the hardware model on C++ using the System C libraries. You’re not developing a one-off architectural model anymore.
