PolyVirtual Announces the Industry’s First Data Capture Platform for 100 Gigabit Networks

New Appliance Collects Telemetry Information from the World’s Fastest Networks and Transforms It into Actionable Insight

PolyVirtual Corporation, a leader in next generation high speed network data capture platforms, today announces the BIG DATA AGGREGATOR (BDA), the world’s first 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) network stream-to-disk and analytics appliance.  The BDA enables network engineers, architects and technicians to analyze, optimize and troubleshoot newer 100 GbE heterogeneous networks that are deploying amid the continuous and relentless demand for more bandwidth.

According to a recent Cisco white report, global data center IP traffic will nearly triple over the next 5 years with overall data center IP traffic growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 23 percent from 2013 to 2018.  To cope, in the past, as bandwidth requirements grew, network operators had to transition from 1 GbE to 10 GbE networks and then again from 10 GbE to 40 GbE.   Now with the viability of 100 GbE infrastructure, the transition to 100 GbE networking has started.  Already these networks are being lit up and deployed at many forward-thinking organizations throughout the world.

The goal of a 100 GbE capture and analytics appliance has eluded many leading test and measurement companies due to a number of technical challenges that must be overcome in order to capture, process and present data that is transmitted at this high speed.  At 100 GbE, one can transfer the entire content of a Blu-Ray disc in a matter of seconds.  These networks enables mobile services, drives next-gen multimedia content, accelerates the pace of research and development, and propels big data engines.

Through the creative and novel use of powerful, parallel compute processors, inventive data archiving techniques and advanced user interface design, PolyVirtual engineers achieved breakthroughs that power a new generation of network capture appliances.

“Our initial customers are early adopters of the latest and most sophisticated technologies, and they rely on vendors such as PolyVirtual to provide next generation solutions to help them manage the ever increasing volumes of data moving through their networks,” said Sam Li, Chief Executive Officer of PolyVirtual.  “The BIG DATA AGGREGATOR is the first in a planned series of solutions from PolyVirtual and is engineered to collect, and store massive amounts of high speed network data and utilize that data to analyze performance, identify and investigate cyber-attacks, and optimize networks.”

BDA will be available in two form-factors; a rack mount system with up to 1.5 petabyte of storage capacity, and a lightweight, portable model for field applications.  Both employ a modern and intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) for configuration, management and maintenance.  Built-in metadata indexing provides ultra-fast data retrievals.  The open architecture enables collected telemetry data to be also accessible via a Thrift or REST API interface, allowing for management and orchestration of a BDA from third-party applications.

The rack mounted BIG DATA AGGREGATOR is scheduled for release at the end of July 2015, followed by the portable BDA in August 2015.  PolyVirtual’s product roadmap plans include larger storage capacity, more powerful compute modules and integration with a wider variety of third-party tools just to name just a few.

PolyVirtual is showcasing the BDA platform at the Mobile World Congress Event in Shanghai, China this week.  The company offers no cost, no obligation demonstration units.  Please contact us for more information or to arraign an onsite evaluation.
