An Interview with PICMG President and Chairman Joe Pavlat

PICMG is the standards organization responsible for AdvancedTCA, MicroTCA, CompactPCI, and several other hardware form factors. They’ve had a VERY busy twelve months, with myriad standards updates on the way.

  1. Hi Chris,

Having worked for the Motorola Computer Group for over 18 years (I was there when it was formed in June of 1986), it is indeed a sad milestone. But, change is inevitable and not all markets and technologies remain viable forever. As computers continue to be used in more places and more things are becoming connected, there will continue to be an embedded computing industry, it will just be different than we remember it “in the good old days”. It is survival of the fittest.
