OCP-IP Announces Availability of New Network on Chip Benchmarking White Paper

New White Paper Discusses A Methodology for Performance Analysis of Network-on-Chip Architectures for Video SoCs

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. –(Business Wire)– Jun 03, 2009 Open Core Protocol International Partnership (OCP-IP) today announced the availability of a new white paper discussing an approach to Performance Analysis of Network-on-Chip (NoC) Architectures for Video Systems on Chip (SoCs). The paper describes a typical video SoC system, and the traffic profiles for each of the processing engines providing performance analysis measures of interest. Using the performance analysis measurements provided, companies can easily and quickly determine the performance of the analyzed system.

Work on the white paper was completed by the OCP-IP NoC Benchmarking Working Group led by Tampere University of Technology, University of British Columbia, Carnegie Melon University, Princeton, Royal Institute of Technology, Washington State University and in cooperation with industry members from the OCP-IP NoC Benchmarking Working Group including: Nokia, Sonics, Synopsys, Texas Instruments and Toshiba.

“One goal of the white paper is to open discussion on emerging needs in SoC design,” said Ian Mackintosh president and chairman of OCP-IP. “This enables companies to explore NoC Benchmarking needs that address more complex situations and becomes part of the vast and expanding OCP infrastructure available to our members.”
