San Francisco, CA, July 8, 2013 — Extension Media announced today the acquisition of several leading brands serving the semiconductor manufacturing market including Solid State Technology, Solid-State.com and The ConFab. These brands lead this sector with strong magazine, online and networking conference businesses, and will further expand Extension Media’s growing portfolio in the semiconductor design and manufacturing market. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Established in 1958, Solid State technology and its website Solid-State.com are the leading authority on semiconductor, packaging, MEMS, displays and LED manufacturing. The magazine, newsletters and website focus on developments in process technologies, tools and materials. This content enables innovation and problem-solving by engineering and business managers, process developers, and other decision makers within the chip, fab and allied industries.
The ConFab, which will enter its 10th year in 2014, is the leading annual conference and business meeting where executives from semiconductor manufacturing companies and semiconductor equipment and material suppliers discuss current business and technology issues and collaborate on future strategic development in device manufacturing. As in 2013, the 2014 conference will take place on June 22-24 in Las Vegas at The Encore at the Wynn.
Editor-in-Chief Pete Singer and his team and the entire sales group have joined Extension Media and are now part of its Semiconductor Manufacturing Division led by John Blyler, Vice President and Chief Content Officer.
"I am very pleased the entire editorial and sales team has joined Extension Media. Extension Media’s commitment across the semiconductor design and manufacturing market is now unequalled and will enable us to continue to grow and develop new products and services that provide new and valuable content for readers and new marketing and lead generation opportunities for vendors,” said Vince Ridley, president of Extension Media.
PennWell Technology Group Senior Vice President Christine Shaw said, "Extension Media shares our passion and commitment to high quality products and to its readers and advertisers alike. They have a strong presence in the Semiconductor Design and Manufacturing market and we wish them great success with these valuable properties."
The acquisition marks Extension Media’s continued investment in serving highly engaged engineering communities with high quality products and services.
