The Xilinx® MicroBlaze™ processor is a flexible 32-bit RISC soft core with a rich instruction set and configurable memory management unit (MMU) enabling full embedded Linux support with Xilinx FPGAs. Virtual memory support and on-chip memory protection unit (MPU) make the MicroBlaze processor ideally suited to applications requiring robust security and reliability.

Embedded system developers have complete flexibility to select any combination of peripherals, memory, and interfaces needed to achieve the best system performance at the lowest cost on a single FPGA. The MicroBlaze processor is highly customizable with over 70 configuration options enabling trade-offs for size and performance, including barrel shifter, divider, multiplier, instruction and data caches, floating point unit (FPU) and Fast Simplex Link (FSL) interfaces, and hardware debug logic.

With the MicroBlaze FSL interface, developers can connect custom hardware co-processors to accelerate time-critical algorithms. The integrated single-precision, IEEE-754 compatible FPU option provides a processor specifically tailored to execute low-latency integer and floating point operations.

The MicroBlaze processor is licensed with the Xilinx Embedded Development Kit in ISE® Design Suite Embedded Edition and delivered as part of Xilinx Targeted Design Platforms that accelerate embedded system design and enable greater product differentiation for rapidly changing application requirements.
