ADLINK Collaborates with Wind River to Launch Joint Lab Providing Remote Integration & Testing of NFV Solutions
Joint lab aimed at accelerating the innovation of network communication and ensuring high levels of performance & security
ADLINK, a global leading industrial IoT and communications platform provider has announced that it is working with Wind River to launch a Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) Innovation Laboratory in Shanghai that will help speed the innovation of the network communication industry. The joint lab extends R&D centers established by both companies in Shanghai, China and San Jose, California, U.S. in August 2016. The lab and R&D centers use Wind River Titanium Cloud software as their NFV infrastructure running on a hardware platform based on the ADLINK Modular Industrial Cloud Architecture.
The NFV Innovation Lab will support customers in integrating and verifying their NFV solutions remotely, enable testing and solution integration of open source code platforms and provide accurate data on NFV performance and reliability. The combination of technologies from ADLINK and Wind River supplies service providers with software, system equipment and a complete environment that permits rapid verification and optimization of a software system that can help accelerate the application of NFV for the telecommunications industry.
Wind River Titanium Cloud provides the telecommunications industry with a complete commercial NFV infrastructure (NFVI) software platform, which, together with ADLINK’s highly adaptable, modular hardware platform, makes it very easy to deploy NFV either on the network edge or in the data center and provides customers with more opportunities to maximize the performance and capacity of NFV while significantly cutting down on operating costs. With Titanium Cloud as the software foundation, the telecommunications industry will not only speed up the deployment of NFV, but will also ensure the carrier-grade normal runtime and reliability required by the telecommunications network.
The new open framework from ADLINK, a modular industrial cloud architecture launched in March, is the distillation of more than 20 years of experience in the design and manufacturing of carrier-grade industrial computers and Ethernet products. By incorporating the latest software and hardware acceleration technology, ADLINK’s architecture helps meet the requirements for allocation of resources according to needs in the cloud computing era.

At the lab opening, three partners’ solutions will be demonstrated; these include Trend Micro’s virtualization network security, ADVA’s Ensemble Orchestrator and CertusNet’s vBRAS.
Trend Micro Virtual Network Function Suite (VNFS), designed especially for carrier-grade NFV environments, offers flexible, reliable and high-performance virtual network security for communication service providers (CSPs) from the core network to the edge. At the foundation of the Virtual Network Function Suite is Trend Micro’s innovative deep packet inspection (DPI) technology, which provides various network security functions, including intrusion prevention, URL filtering and application control.
ADVA’s Ensemble Orchestrator is an evolved ETSI MANO-compliant NFV orchestration platform providing end-to-end network service and VNF lifecycle management.
CertusNet FlexBNG, a new generation of virtual Broadband Remote Access Server (vBRAS) systems, helps network carriers solve their issues at the legacy edge of the core network. As the industry’s first distributed vBRAS product, and fully compliant with the ETSI NFV architecture, FlexBNG has a set of richer, smarter, more flexible and more economical features to support 3G, 4G, IPTV, OTT and other telecommunications services, as well as Internet business innovation and development.
The main environment of the NFV Innovation Laboratory was jointly set up by ADLINK and Wind River and is located at the ADLINK campus in Shanghai to help support customers to integrate and verify their NFV solutions around the world.
