New Emerson Network Power Industrial Motherboard Improves Flexibility of Retail Point-of-Sale and Kiosk Applications

Designed for simpler and more cost-effective upgrade and replacement when deployed

NUREMBERG, Germany [March 3, 2009] – Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical ContinuityTM, today launched an industrial motherboard solution to improve the flexibility of point-of-sale (POS) and kiosk applications, including retail, banking, hospitality and self-service kiosks. Based on the MicroATX form factor, the Emerson MATXM-C2-410-B uses the Mobile Intel® GM45 Express chipset to support either the Intel® CoreTM2 Duo Processor T9400 or the Intel® Celeron® Processor 575.

Uniquely, the MATXM-C2-410-B mates with a midplane which allows easy replacement and avoids any risk of incorrect cable attachment making it ideal for the retail environment. The board also features PoweredUSB ports, which are used in POS systems to power peripherals such as printers and bar-code scanners. Retail integrators can take advantage of improved manageability, proactive security, and advanced power management features by selecting the Intel® CoreTM2 Duo mobile processor, which includes Intel® vProTM technology.

"Retailers can gain a competitive advantage by using technology such as scalable POS terminals and processor-intensive kiosks. This new Emerson industrial motherboard is designed to take the POS experience onto a new level with improved display capability and superior manageability. Theme parks, cinemas, restaurants, airport check-in desks, post offices and hospitals are just some of the places that are increasingly using self-service kiosks," said Hilo Oltman, director of product line management for the Embedded Computing business of Emerson Network Power. "Using the MATXM-C2-410-B offers customers the opportunity to improve customer service, differentiate their offering and gain competitive advantage."

The launch of the MATXM-C2-410-B is a first step in a new Emerson Network Power strategy, driven by its Embedded Computing business, to invest in a diversified product portfolio with the aim of becoming the supplier of choice for industrial and commercial original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
