VDC Research Group Confirms Emerson Network Power’s Leadership in Embedded Computing

TEMPE, Ariz. [March18, 2009] – Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical ContinuityTM, today announced that its Embedded Computing business has received a prestigious 2008 Embedded Board Gold Vendor Award from VDC Research Group (VDC). Emerging as a first-time recipient, Emerson Network Power was recognized as one of the top vendors of merchant computer boards based on user ratings of price, availability, delivery, technical support and reliability.

“When Emerson Network Power acquired Motorola’s Embedded Communications Computing Group over a year ago, we believed that the combined resources and expertise of our two businesses would create a powerful industry player in the embedded computing industry,” said Stephen Dow, president of the Embedded Computing business of Emerson Network Power. “This award not only validates the success of that strategic acquisition, it also confirms that our customers and the industry as a whole continue to benefit from our legacy, which involves over 25 years of experience and innovation driving the adoption of open, standards-based technologies.”

VDC’s “Platinum and Gold” embedded board vendor rating awards rate the non-product characteristics of computer board vendors targeting embedded systems and are based on objective data collected directly from embedded customers. The ratings are awarded in conjunction with VDC’s “Merchant Computer Boards for Embedded/Real-Time Applications” report.
