The Cool RoadRunner delivers high computing performance while consuming only little power. Its 1.6 GHz Intel® Atom™ processor N270 was created with low-power embedded devices in mind.

The PC/104-Plus board comes as a stand-alone embedded PC. It features a three chip solution and a maximum of 2 GB soldered DDR2-RAM. The Northbridge Intel® 82945GSE Graphics and Memory Controller Hub has an integrated enhanced graphics controller that handles 2D and speeds up 3D graphics and provides MPEG2 decoding as well.

VGA and LVDS display ports allow a wide choice of display panels to be used. The Intel® 82801GBM I/O Controller handles most of the other interfaces, among them high definition audio. Two SATA ports take care of harddisk storage, while a 2 GB Solid State Disk allows construction of fully operating PC systems without moving parts.

A Gigabit Ethernet port, 8 USB 2.0 host ports, and flexible serial interfaces provide versatile connectivity to networks and external peripherals. I²C (System Management Bus) signals are available, too.

The Cool RoadRunner operates from a single 5 V supply. To conserve even more power, ACPI, advanced power management, and PCIe power management are supported.

Integrated LEMT functionality provides housekeeping functions like power sequencing and security related utility function. It also supports condition monitoring.

Supported operating systems are Windows, Windows Embedded, Linux and QNX.
