TenAsys® enters its 10th year as a member of the Microsoft® Visual Studio® Industry Partner Program

TenAsys Corporation (www.tenasys.com), a leading provider of real-time OS (RTOS) and embedded virtualization software for Intel® architecture-compatible processors is entering its tenth year as member of the Microsoft Visual Studio Industry Partner Program with the intent of continuing to use Visual Studio as its core development tool.

TenAsys joined the Microsoft’s Visual Studio Industry Partner (VSIP) Program shortly after it was launched in 2002. The Microsoft program was conceived to enable Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to customize Visual Studio to address their specific target market needs. The initiative was a breakthrough concept which melded well with TenAsys’ markets and the company’s flagship product, INtime® for Windows. INtime for Windows is a real-time operating system designed to run alongside Windows, so that both real-time applications (on INtime) and non-real-time applications (on Windows) may run simultaneously on the same platform. And because Visual Studio supports both environments, embedded system developers can both write and debug the real-time and the Windows portions of their applications simultaneously.

“A large part of our users are most familiar with the Windows environment and it makes sense that the development toolset of choice would be one that supports Windows,” said Kim Hartman, TenAsys Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “By taking advantage of Microsoft resources and commitment to Visual Studio and the VSIP program, we’ve been able to provide our customers access to a world-class development environment while we focus our resources on providing them the best RTOS solution for PC-based systems. Since most customers already have Visual Studio, it is an economical and efficient solution.”

All of TenAsys’ INtime RTOS family members use Visual Studio as a development environment, including the stand-alone INtime Distributed RTOS product. Because Visual Studio is tightly integrated with the INtime OS, faults can be trapped, analyzed and debugged with Visual Studio at the thread level while other parts of the applications continue running. Visual Studio can also be run locally or remotely, circumventing the need to run Visual Studio on the target system when it is important that the target system not be loaded with the debug tools.
