We all know what a well-placed digital menu board or sign can do for product awareness and brand recognition. A well placed digital sign on a busy street, outside a theater or in a park can garner immediate attention from a specific audience in a way which traditional print and broadcast media can never hope to equal. For example, you can be assured that a commuter outside a busy train station or bus terminal will walk past a digital display with relevant digital content. Conversely, any expectation that the same commuters will read a specific magazine or listen to a particular radio station is at best wishful thinking.

However, placing digital signs outdoors has always been a challenge. In the past, LCD based Digital Signage Solutions typically do not tolerate the elements well. Direct sunlight makes the display appear dim and unreadable. It also tends to overheat the LCD screen causing it to turn pitch black. Cold winters, hot summers, rain, snow, dust and sleet will all conspire to knock the system out of operation. There have always been weather proof solutions in the form of LED billboards and displays. But these are large, expensive and marginal in close up readability.

The IDOOH-210-IR is specifically designed for both Indoor and Outdoor Applications. It is manufactured to meet stringent quality standards and requirements for reliability. Not only does it support 24-hour operation at extended temperatures from -40°C and up to +50°C (+122°F), its IP65 rated enclosure makes it dust-tight and water resistant. In addition, the display is available with a Touch interface allowing for not just eye catching but interactive content. Interactivity adds a whole new level of utility by enabling the display to act as a kiosk for ordering food, buying tickets, or pathfinding.

The IDOOH-210-IR has 21.5” display that is equipped with a light sensor that automatically adjusts the brightness of the LCD depending on the lighting conditions. The sunlight readable LCD display panel provides sufficient screen brightness for readability during the day and a sensor affords automatic dimming at night. A special film coating provides protection from the aging effects of UV rays and heating effects from infrared radiation. The IBASE IDOOH-210 system is an excellent choice for drive through kiosks, ticketing machines and other outdoor applications

Thermal control
IBASE has put a lot of effort into designing the system to overcome issues pertaining to temperature. Based on IBASE owned thermal separation and isolation patent, an airflow-control device has been integrated into the system to calculate the airflow speed needed at various temperatures and the isolation air space setting. This maximizes Thermal dissipation to deal with the heat source and cools down the system temperature effectively.

Low temperature control
When the system temperature is lower than the set lowest temperature, the system will auto start the temperature control mechanism until the system temperature reaches the acceptable threshold. While the system is still under monitoring, the temperature control mechanism will auto start if the temperature drops to the lowest threshold.

Lighting control
There is a light sensor installed in the system that allows it to adjust the LCD brightness automatically depending on environment conditions, to save energy and provide better visibility.
