Ethernet Alliance Names David Chalupsky to Board of Directors
The Ethernet Alliance, a global consortium dedicated to the continued success and advancement of Ethernet technologies, today announced the appointment of David Chalupsky of Intel Corporation to its Board of Directors. A long-time Ethernet industry veteran, Mr. Chalupsky brings with him a wealth of technical and leadership abilities, with particular expertise in BASE-T technologies.
“Ethernet ports driven by BASE-T technologies are the dominant Ethernet port shipping today. As Ethernet continues adapting to meet the needs of new constituencies, the significance of BASE-T technologies evolving to fill changing market and application demands can not be understated,” said John D’Ambrosia, chairman, Ethernet Alliance; and senior principal engineer, Huawei. “David’s impeccable knowledge of both BASE-T and Ethernet as a whole make him a valuable addition to our Board.”
Mr. Chalupsky is a Principal Engineer in the data center group at Intel, where he previously held various hardware development and engineering management roles, beginning with single-board industrial computer design. Mr. Chalupsky, who co-authored The Spaces of BASE-T tech brief, chairs Ethernet Alliance’s BASE-T subcommittee, as well as two IEEE 802.3™ BASE-T related standard development projects. He holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering from California State University, Chico, an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering from Portland State University, and eight U.S. patents.
“The diversification of BASE-T technologies enables it to address different parts of Ethernet’s user community – higher speeds for server connectivity, mid-to-lower range speeds for enhanced enterprise campus connectivity, and new applications like automotive Ethernet,” said Mr. Chalupsky. “I’m pleased by this opportunity to bring renewed focus to Ethernet BASE-T technologies at the board level, and look forward to working with my fellow directors.”
