Nextreme Structured ASIC Family

Process Node: 90nm
Foundry: Fujitsu

Nextreme is a family of Structured ASIC devices, manufactured on a 90nm CMOS process, using eASIC’s patented customization technology. The family is built on a breakthrough
configurable logic technology, which combines an FPGA-like Look-Up-Table (LUT) with single
via customizable routing. This breakthrough technology enables Nextreme Structured ASICs
to provide you with low cost of ownership and risk for both for fast prototyping and high
volume production.

Nextreme Structured ASICs are ideal for replacing FPGAs, cell-based ASICs and ASSPs.
They include 6 devices that have up to 358,000 eCells (i.e. logic cells) (~5M gates), up
to 5.6Mb of block memory, industry standard microprocessors, DSP capability and up to 790
I/Os that support multiple I/O standards for interfacing standard or custom protocols.

Nextreme devices can be used for implementing IP cores that are in VHDL or Verilog
format. eASIC has already implemented many IP cores including ARM926EJTM processor and
peripherals, H.264 encoder for SD or HD formats, interfaces such as DDR2 memory
controller, 10/100/1000 Ethernet, PCI Express.

Once you hand off your design to eASIC, Nextreme Structured ASIC prototypes can be
turned around in a few weeks instead of months as with traditional Cell-based ASICs. You
can use these prototypes to demonstrate working solutions to your customers and go into
mass production too, as the prototyping and production devices are identical. This means
you no longer need to perform costly, risky time consuming conversions from FPGAs to
Cell-based ASICs.

With Nextreme Structured ASICs you truly get the best of both worlds and no longer have
to compromise between high costs and power consumption of an FPGA, or high mask charges
and slow time to market associated with Cell-based ASICs.
