Multi-core VMEbus SBC Boosts Performance and Extends Lifecycle
The MVME7100 is Emerson’s highest performance VMEbus single-board computer. It uses the latest system-on-chip multi-core PowerPC technology to boost your application’s performance and extend your product’s lifecycle while protecting your investment in VME. It offers a backwards compatible growth path for existing VMEbus customers with applications on the previous generation of VME, specifically the MPC74xx processors.
Improved Performance
The MVME7100 is one of the first VMEbus products in the industry to use the system-on-chip MPC864xD processor. The faster processor and 2eSST VMEbus protocol, which provides up to 320MB/s transfer rate across the standard VMEbus, combine to offer significant performance improvement. The system-on-chip implementation offers power/thermal, reliability, and lifecycle advantages not typically found in alternative architectures. Cost-effective peripherals can also be integrated easily using USB interfaces.
Backwards Compatible
For OEMs in the military, aerospace, automation, industrial and medical markets that have existing VMEbus platforms implemented, the MVME7100 can help add performance and features for competitive advantage while still protecting their investment in VMEbus and related technologies. Customers can keep their VMEbus infrastructure (chassis, backplanes, and other VMEbus and PMC boards) while improving performance and extending the lifecycle of their products.
Extended Lifecycle
VMEbus technology is employed around the world in a variety of highly demanding, rugged, long lifecycle applications. Compatibility with existing systems, which helps lengthen the lifecycles of existing applications, is a key advantage of the MVME7100. The extended lifecycle of Emerson’s embedded computing products helps reduce churns in development and support efforts resulting from product changes.
