Northrop Grumman subjected Emerson Network Power AdvancedTCA® equipment to “afloat shock testing”, better known in the defense industry as “barge testing”, and it passed with flying colors! 60 pounds of MX-1 plastic explosives was detonated 24 feet deep and 20 feet away from a barge containing the functioning equipment.
Multiple blasts over several days accounted for various scenarios and final test results confirmed the continual operation of the Emerson ATCA equipment on board throughout the blast scenario. These dramatic results demonstrate the ability of Emerson ATCA products to withstand the harsh environmental concerns that would be commonplace in traditional military deployments.
