At this year’s Embedded World trade fair, ADL Embedded Solutions, a leading provider of customizable, high-performance embedded solutions for demanding thermal and rugged environments, is presenting a large selection of new UEFI/BIOS expansions, with which various user requirements can be met without additional software and drivers.

Last year, the company analysed and responded to customer-specific needs. ADL CUSTOM CORE FREQUENCY

Using this function enables users to freely adjust and evaluate the maximum clock speed of the CPU and the associated power loss of the embedded system. This opens up entirely new paths in terms of the design of customised cooling solutions, enclosures and power supplies.

ADL CORE EN- & DISABLE

With this feature, it is possible to switch off a specific number of cores in quad-core CPUs. Users benefit in turn from higher performance or clock rate per core, the typically larger cache as compared to dual-core processors and the thermal savings potential. Particularly with the new ATOM processors of the Intel Bay Trail E3800 series, this function reduces the price of the overall system significantly, since no Intel Core i3 or i5 processors have to be used.

ADL CUSTOM SMART FAN

This function provides a simple means for adjusting the efficiency and the noise level of active fans. It gives users free rein to configure the control and speed of the fans. Starting with fanless operation within a self-defined temperature range through to the independent control of up to three fans (on ADL’s 3.5-inch SBCs) with two different temperature reference points on the CPU board. The noise emission and power consumption of the embedded systems are reliably reduced with this function, which in turn greatly expands the range of application of these systems.
