TQ presents the smallest PowerQUICC II Pro module of the world
Latest version of the Pecore® family of modules based on the PowerQUICC II Pro processors from Freescale
Occupying an area of only 70 mm x 50 mm and smaller than a credit card, the PQII-Pro module offered by TQ is the world’s smallest. Yet this minimodule has all the performance needed inside – integrated with Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0, SATA and PCI-Express which provide more than sufficient performance reserves for the next generation of embedded applications. Fast I/O connection can be implemented just as easily as linking to large mass-storage devices, as can fast and efficient networking is as well. All of this provides the optimum capabilities required for use in industrial controls demanding high-end performance.
The familiar robust connector system that has proven successful for years now in applications used in railways, track systems, and aircraft utilizes 320 pins to ensure reliable operation even under the most severe conditions of shock and vibration. The entire module consumes a theoretical maximum of only 5 watts, while ratings measured for typical applications are 2-3 watts at a core frequency of 400 MHz. This simplifies both the power supply and as well as the cooling design.
A model is also available featuring allowable temperature limits of -40°C to +85°C for use in especially hot or cold environments.The ability to boot directly from the NAND flash can eliminate the need for NOR flash and offers an eff ctive means of cost reduction. Of course the NAND flash can be used to provide mass-storage combined with the reliability of NOR flash for the purpose of acquiring critical data and programs. The small installation size together with the low power loss provides the ideal specifications for use in low-cost, small, and fanless systems.
