VersaLogic’s new PC/104-Plus single board computer (SBC), the Cougar, uses a highly efficient AMD® LX 800 processor that provides very low power consumption without sacrificing performance. The benefits of fanless operation, soldered-on memory, and extended temperature operation (-40° to +85°C) make the Cougar an ideal choice for demanding military, aerospace, medical and industrial applications.

The Cougar’s highly-integrated AMD LX 800 processor delivers Celeron® 800 MHz-equivalent performance while drawing less than 5 watts of power. Standard on-board features include 256 MB soldered-on DDR memory, dual 10/100 Ethernet, IDE interface and three COM ports. A CompactFlash socket provides reliable, high-capacity on-board storage with no moving parts. Four USB 2.0 ports provide flexible options for keyboard, mouse, external storage and other devices.

The board includes integrated high performance video with analog and LVDS flat-panel support for videointensive applications. The PC/104-Plus interface supports both ISA and PCI add-on modules. Standard pass-through connectors allow the board to be used either above or below other PC/104 modules. It may also be used as a CPU module for a larger system by plugging it into a proprietary base board that includes specific user I/O circuitry.

The RoHS-compliant Cougar is compatible with a variety of embedded operating systems, including Windows CE/XP/XPe, QNX, VxWorks and Linux. As with all VersaLogic SBCs, available customizations include conformal coating, customized BIOS, revision locks, custom labeling, RTV and wire wrap for shock and vibration protection.
