The FT2232H & FT4232H are FTDI’s 5th generation of USB devices. The FT2232H & FT4232H are USB 2.0 Hi-Speed (480Mb/s)ICs. Both have the capability of being configured in a variety of industry standard serial or parallel interfaces.

For device development and evaluation purposes, two Hi- Speed Mini-Modules which utilize the Hi-Speed USB ICs are available.

The FT2232H has two independent configurable interfaces. Each interface can be configured as UART, FIFO, JTAG, SPI, I2C or bit-bang mode with independent baud rate generators. In addition, the FT2232H supports a host bus emulation mode, a CPU-style FIFO mode, a synchronous FIFO mode and a fast opto-isolated serial interface mode.

The FT4232H has four independent configurable interfaces. Two of these interfaces can be configured as UART, JTAG, SPI, I2C or bit-bang mode with independent baud rate generators. The remaining two interfaces can be configured as UART or bit-bang mode.

The FT2232H & FT4232H each have two Multi-Protocol Synchronous Serial Engines (MPSSE). The MPSSE provides a synchronous serial interface which can be configured for interfaces such as JTAG, SPI and I2C as well as application specific or custom synchronous protocols.

The entire USB protocol is handled on the chip. No USB specific firmware programming required.

USB 2.0 Hi-Speed (480Mbits/Second) and Full Speed (12Mbits/Second) compatible.

• RS232/RS422/RS485 UART Transfer Data Rate up to 12Mbaud. (RS232 Data Rate limited by external level shifter).
• Optional traffic TX/RX indicators can be added with LEDs and an external 74HC595 shift register (FT4232H).
• +1.8V (chip core) and +3.3V I/O interfacing (+5V Tolerant).
• Compact 64-lead Lead Free LQFP or QFN packages.
