LeCroy Releases Compliance Suite Software to Support Link Layer Specification Version 1.0

LeCroy USB Compliance Test Suite is approved by the USB Implementer’s Forum for Performing SuperSpeed USB Link Layer Testing

International CES, Las Vegas, NV, January 10th, 2012 – LeCroy Corporation, a worldwide leader in serial data test solutions, announced the official release of their compliance test suite that adheres to the newly ratified USB 3.0 Link Layer Test Specification 1.0. The LeCroy compliance test suite is an approved Link Verification System (LVS) by the USB-IF and is used during SuperSpeed USB compliance workshops for testing link layer conformance. Available as a software option for their Voyager platform, the LeCroy compliance suite debuted in 2009 and has been extensively tested with the help of many USB 3.0 developers that use the LeCroy Voyager system as part of their internal verification testing.

“The USB Implementers Forum Compliance Committee added Link Layer testing to the SuperSpeed USB Certification program as part of our ongoing effort to ensure comprehensive compliance for the USB 3.0 standard,” stated Jeff Ravencraft, USB-IF President & COO. “LeCroy’s support of the Link Layer test specification 1.0 will help our members bring USB 3.0 products to market that deliver high performance and interoperability.”

“National Technical Systems has been certifying devices for USB Compliance since 2001 and our customers have benefited from our deep knowledge and expertise with 3rd party test tools,” said Osman Sakr, CTO of National Technical Systems. “The addition of the LeCroy Voyager platform to our SuperSpeed USB testing allows us to pinpoint problem areas at the protocol layer and ultimately help our customers get their USB products certified faster.”

“Granite River Labs chose LeCroy’s Voyager analyzer / exerciser system as part of our Compliance Test Program for USB 3.0 devices because it’s the most widely used and trusted protocol analysis tool for SuperSpeed USB,” stated Mike Engbretson, Chief Technology Engineer of Granite River Labs. “The LeCroy Voyager platform is an ideal tool to support our customers, who rely on us for deep debugging support of their SuperSpeed USB designs. Moreover, the Voyager platform and the latest Link Layer Compliance Suite provides one button operation giving us the type of automated functionality that is ideal for a busy test lab.”

The USB-IF’s Link Layer compliance specification includes 37 test cases that verify hundreds of link layer test assertions from the USB 3.0 base specification. LeCroy’s turnkey compliance software provides a graphical console that steps through the test process and generates pass/fail reports identifying possible violations. The suite specifically addresses link layer error recovery, link state timing and power management behaviors. The LeCroy USB compliance suite software version 1.40 is available for download on the LeCroy website.
