BSQUARE Announces Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Feasibility Study Service for OEMs and Silicon Vendors

Bellevue, WA – November 1, 2006 – Today BSQUARE (Nasdaq: BSQR) announced availability of a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Feasibility Study service. This consulting package enables OEMs and silicon vendors to optimize their strategy for adopting Windows Embedded CE 6.0, the next-generation Windows CE operating system that features a new kernel, enhanced security, and richer VoIP, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi support. By engaging with BSQUARE, Windows CE 6.0 Feasibility Study customers will shorten their time to market.

“Windows Embedded CE 6.0 is different enough from prior versions of Windows CE that OEMs should carefully evaluate how and when they migrate to the new operating system,” said Carey Butler, vice-president of Professional Engineering Services. “For example, BSQUARE can help OEMs evaluate which portions of their existing code base should be ported directly to version 6.0 and which portions would best be re-written. From a business strategy point of view, we’ll be saving OEMs significant time and money with this service.”

BSQUARE’s Feasibility Study is a customizable service with deliverables tailored to meet the unique needs of each customer. For example, an OEM of data collection devices could work with a BSQUARE engineer to quantify the performance effects of migrating to Windows Embedded CE 6.0. An OEM specializing in point-of-sale could team with BSQUARE to explore how a migration to Windows Embedded CE 6.0 would enhance security or affect footprint size on retail devices. An industrial automation customer could use the service to scope the cost and schedule for an internal Windows Embedded CE 6.0 development project.

“BSQUARE’s Feasibility Study will shorten time to market for OEMs and silicon vendors adopting Windows Embedded CE 6.0,” said Jane Gilson, director of the Windows Mobile and Embedded Devices Group at Microsoft Corp. “BSQUARE’s deep technical staff, its emphasis on project management best practices, the experience it’s amassed on over 300 successful customer engagements and the knowledge it has gained assisting key 6.0 beta customers make BSQUARE an ideal partner to deliver a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Feasibility Study.”

BSQUARE’s Feasibility Study includes 80 hours of engineering consulting and can be delivered at BSQUARE or at a customer’s site. At the conclusion of the project, each customer receives a detailed Findings Report with BSQUARE’s recommendations. For more information, customers should contact BSQUARE at sales@bsquare.com.
