The Vortex86 System-On-Chip (SoC) family was originally designed to provide product migration path to the existing user of the DMP M6117D, a 40 Mhz 386SX SoC introduced to the market in the early 1990’s, reaching end-of-life in 2007.

The Vortex86DX is an improved design from the first Vortex86SX chip, a 300 Mhz SoC. The Vortex86DX SoC is designed with an 800 Mhz 32-bits x86 processor, built with 0.09 micron silicon using ultra low power consumption design. The Vortex86DX SoC integrates both North and South bridges, LPC bus, 5 Serial ports, USB 2.0 OTG, Ultra-DMA IDE, 10/100M Ethernet, SPI, I²C, PWM, GPIO and JTAG interface into a single chip design, packaged in a 27mm x 27mm 581-pins BGA package.

With its core design based on the matured x86 CPU architecture and rich set of integrated I/O, designed to function in harsh temperature ranges of -45 to +85 °C, the Vortex86DX SoC provides the ideal platform to design new generation of industrial single-board-computer and embedded controller to build Industrial-Automation, Human-Machine-Interface, Medical, Automotive, utility Metering, Firewall Router, Security Access Control, Thin Client, Intelligent RFID Reader, RS232-TCP and other protocol converter, Home-Building Automation, Point-of-Sales, Information Kiosk and other embedded devices.

By integrating key peripherals into the design, the Vortex86DX SoC helps minimize external components which in turn minimize the required footprint, production cost and help ease the tasks associated with version control.
