AdaCore Announces Support for Major Wind River VxWorks Platforms for Ada 2005

NEW YORK, February 12, 2007 – AdaCore, provider of the highest quality Ada tools and support, announces complete Ada 2005 support for all major Wind River VxWorks Platforms. As a long standing strategic Wind River Platform partner, AdaCore supports many customers using the major VxWorks platforms employed in general commercial and high reliability safety critical industries. This enhancement is the latest in a long line of innovative Ada technologies in troduced to allow customers to benefit from the highest quality embedded Ada development solutions.

Further AdaCore is now unique in the industry as the first vendor to support all three ISO versions of the Ada programming language. AdaCore now supports Wind River customers working on existing long-lived Ada 83 systems, development teams using the current Ada 95 language, and we are now the first to support Wind River customers who want to start using the new ISO Ada 2005 language standard.

AdaCore supports all three ISO Ada language versions for the following Wind River platforms:

  • Wind River General Purpose Platform, VxWorks 5.x
  • Wind River General Purpose Platform, VxWorks 6.x
  • Wind River Platform for Safety Critical DO-178B
  • Wind River Platform for Safety Critical ARINC-653

The AdaCore and Wind River partnership is now flying high. AdaCore’s GNAT Pro High Integrity Edition (HIE) development environment and Wind River’s Platform for Safety Critical ARINC-653 recently made its maiden flight aboard the C-130AMP aircraft. The C-130AMP’s Mission Processor (MP) critical infrastructure software is a combination of Wind River’s operating system and support tools, AdaCore’s Ada development environment and Smiths Aerospace’s infrastructure software. The Software Common Operating Environment (SCOE) package provides the C-130 AMP team with an ARINC-653 software partitioned operating system, as well as a full set of “partitioning aware” tools to support software development and debug for the selected PowerPC processor.

“AdaCore is proud to be a Wind River strategic partner and offer our high quality tools and support to our joint customers,” said Robert Dewar, President of AdaCore. “We support the Wind River General Purpose Platforms but also the two DO-178B safety critical platforms designed specifically for the avionics industry. This support is important to our joint avionics customers where Ada has been the leading language of choice and the Wind River Platform for Safety Critical is being selected more often by avionic industry leaders such as Smith Aerospace.”
