IP Infusion

IP Infusion’s ZebOS® Networking Platform delivers scalable, modular, high-performance Layer 2 and Layer 3 carrier-class routing and switching software solutions for Next Generation Networks (NGNs). ZebOS offers standards-based protocol stacks supporting Carrier Ethernet, Provider Bridging, Provider Backbone Bridging, IPv4, IPv6, Multicast, MPLS Traffic Engineering, DiffServ, QoS, VLAN Switching, Virtual Routing, L2-VPLS and L3-VPN. In particular, these protocol components enable effective Metro Ethernet solutions. The modular architecture of the ZebOS protocol implementations allows Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to pick individual protocols to add to their existing system, choose a bundle of protocols for their new application, or integrate the complete ZebOS Networking Platform to enable their engineers to implement truly differentiating features and valued added services.

The 7.6 release of the ZebOS Networking Platform offers:

  • Increased support for Carrier Ethernet through Provider Backbone Bridging (PBB) that is able to scale to more than 16 million Ethernet service instances
  • Support for key technologies required to transport IPv6 traffic over existing IPv4 networks
  • Greater scalability of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) in provider networks for speedier BGP convergence
  • Greater scalability of Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), supporting up to 1,000 nodes, 100,000 routes and 500 nodes in one area
  • 64-bit CPU support, an increase from the 32-bit support offered by previous releases, providing computing power to match increased network speeds

NGNs present tremendous market opportunities for manufacturers of a broad range of equipment types, including provider edge, metro access/aggregation, mobile backhaul equipment, data center switches and enterprise switches and routers. But along with these opportunities come substantial challenges:

  • Delivering packet-based software on time to address requirements for NGN equipment
  • Ensuring full compliance and interworking with a broad range of IPv4, IPv6, MPLS, Metro Ethernet and networking standards
  • Addressing increasing scalability and uptime requirements of carrier- grade equipment
  • Leveraging software investments across diverse hardware platforms and in the face of rapidly evolving market requirements

IP Infusion Inc., An ACCESS Company, provides leading-edge solutions to these challenges. We specialize in helping equipment providers bring IP-based and Ethernet-based NGN equipment to market on time, with assured quality and reduced cost and risk. More than 170 companies over the past nine years have selected IP Infusion to help them accelerate time to market for advanced networking equipment. ZebOS solutions have been available for several operating systems, diverse merchant networking silicon, and multiple high availability (HA) and network management complements. We have a solid understanding of the issues equipment manufacturers must overcome in order to capture NGN opportunities. We are active participants in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) standards bodies, as well as in interoperability and conformance testing at Isocore events and the University of New Hampshire, giving us in-depth knowledge of the standards requirements that impact equipment manufacturers.

Besides our comprehensive suite of robust, modular, standardsbased software products, our IP Infusion professional services team is available to assist customers in all phases of definition, development and deployment to assure the most efficient timeto- market advantage. IP Infusion works closely with customers in developing customized plans to help deliver and deploy NGN products as rapidly as possible.
