Lyrtech releases the Software Communication Architecture implementation on its Small Form Factor Software-defined Radio Development Platform



QUEBEC CITY — Lyrtech Inc. (Lyrtech; TSX-V: LYT), a worldwide leader in digital signal processing technologies, announces the official release of a Software Communication Architecture (SCA) implementation on its Small Form Factor (SFF) Software-defined Radio (SDR) Development Platform.

The SCA implementation seamlessly integrates technologies from Lyrtech, Communications Research Centre Canada (CRC), Objective Interface Systems (OIS), and Green Hills Software. It features a high-performance, all-CORBA communications infrastructure, where a general-purpose processor (GPP), DSP, and FPGA communicate through standards-based middleware, allowing a better portability and easier development.

Lyrtech’s platform is the first to support a logic-implemented ORB on a Xilinx FPGA. ORBexpress FPGA from OIS supports the partial reconfiguration of Xilinx Virtex-series FPGAs, allowing users to design multiple-channel radios with a single signal processing application. It also contributes to reduce FPGA reconfiguration delays, yielding faster dynamic response times.

Lyrtech’s platform is powered by CRC’s SCARI Software Suite, the world most popular COTS integrated SDR development environment. The SCARI++ Core Framework (embedded in the GPP) is a full implementation of the SCA framework interfaces. It offers exceptional real-time features that minimize SCA overhead on radio-specific processing. SCA Architect (designed around the Eclipse environment) offers SCA developers all the tools they need to easily create SCA-compliant signal processing functions — from waveform representations to automatic real-time validation and SCA-related code generation. SCA Architect’s powerful reverse engineering capabilities even allow assessing the validity of imported profiles.
