LSI Delivers End-to-End Wireless Infrastructure Processor Portfolio



Comprehensive set of asymmetric multicore solutions offers a single platform for development of next-generation mobile networks

LSI Corporation (NYSE: LSI) – (Virtual Press Office) –  today announced that it has updated its silicon portfolio of media, advanced communications, content processing, and link communication processing solutions for next-generation mobile networks.

The entire portfolio is now based on a unified asymmetric multicore architecture, making LSI the industry’s first to offer a cost-effective single platform for development of an end-to-end multi-radio wireless infrastructure, and establishing the foundation for development of the industry’s first scalable wireless base station on a chip (BSoC).

As part of the new portfolio, LSI has announced three next-generation, asymmetric multicore solutions developed on a unified architecture:

• The Axxia™ Communication Processor family, featuring groundbreaking LSI Virtual Pipeline™ message-passing technology and award-winning Tarari® deep packet inspection technology

• StarPro® SP2704 and SP2716 media and baseband processors, which can support more than 3,000 simultaneous gateway channels per device, enabling a single multi-radio access network

• A new link communication processor (LCP) that allows network traffic to be easily and efficiently migrated from existing TDM networks to next-generation Ethernet and IP networks

LSI is showcasing its wireless infrastructure for mobile access, transport, gateway, and data center applications in stand AV64 at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, February 15 to 18. The LSI stand is located in the Avenue Pavilion near Hall 8 of the exhibition.
